all of my life i have always and only wanted big glasses. not sunglasses: eyeglasses glasses. spectacles, goggles, lunettes. i used to lie to my eye doctor, and he used to see right through me. somehow he knew. because of that, i always thought that the eye doctor must be somewhat supernatural. and also, i hated him.
so it was that i was made to attend school with two eyes instead of four. the common refrain was, "boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses," but i didn't care. i wanted to be a librarian. i wanted to read and write a million books and attend art galleries on the weekends, and go to the park to study strangers over the top of a good solid glasses rim, constantly adjusting and fidgeting and pulling my clunky eyewear off to chew on the arm while deep in thought. how could i do any of that with 20/20 vision?
anyway. my vision started to go blurry about a year ago, and the 7 year-old inside of me was ecstatic, you guys. i finally got around to booking an appointment with an optometrist, and, armed with a prescription, ordered my first pair of legit specs off of clearlycontacts.ca {it just so happened that there was a sale, and i got mine for free}. i'm pretty happy. i may never be a librarian, but i kind of look like one.

cute!
Your seven year old self must have been a smarty pants... you look fantastic in specs! Congrats on entering the great world of glasses!
This was SO me. Except I always wanted to be farsighted, see. I would put on my glasses to read and look scholarly; but I didn't have to wear them ALLLL the time. Sort of a "put me in the mood" sort of deal.
And then I got glasses but I'm NEARSIGHTED, so, most days I end up wearing contacts.
But YOU! You look so, so darling in these glasses. They should never leave your face.
I wanted glasses so bad as a kid, i'd wear my best friend's glasses and I didn't know I would already have bad vision thanks to genetics. So by the time I was in 8th grade I had TERRIBLE vision and now I'm almost legally blind. I always wear glasses though. contacts freak me out. Your glasses are adorable!
Clearly contacts RULES.
i love them! so cute:)
I'm glad I'm not the only person who was excited when they "had" to get glasses. I just wear mine to read, though.
Amazeballs. You look fantastic!!
it is so funny how you really wanted glasses and i had to wear mine from six and used to dream of having 20/20 vision.
although now i want some big glasses too because you make them look so cool :)
thanks lisa! :)
i don't know if she was a smarty pants, or more of a loser lost in her own little world... haha but oh well! she's happy!
hahaha, i don't think i could handle contacts!!! the thought of putting something in my eye gives me SHUDDERS.
contacts freak me out too! besides. glasses are so smart looking. smart smart smart.
SO MUCH.
shucks! thanks nicole. :D
haha i'm glad i'm not the only one too. i imagined a bunch of people being like, "don't wish bad vision on yourself you horrible person!"
i don't want terrrrible eyesight, i just want glasses...
aw, thanks emily! :)
do it! get some big ones! they're so fun... :)
Yet another person who can order glasses off the internet and save themselves a tonne of money! Me? Yeah, no. With my iddy biddy thin face there's not a lot that look good on me and then there's most definitely something wrong with my nose b/c if I don't have them adjusted and then readjusted and then readjusted, they're all crooked on my face. So, yeah for you for being able to have affordable glasses. I'm completely jealous. So is my pocketbook. (Since I just ordered my new glasses and sunglasses and they most definitely were not free! They should be here by the end of the week though!)
They suit you, so, so well.
Have you had a look at BonLook.com, they are where I got my current glasses from.
Love them! I always wanted glasses when I was a kid--I used to sit too close to the TV on purpose! I got my wish in 4th grade and I thought glasses were a pain. I've finally come back around though and I love them again. And I actually am a librarian so it's perfect!
Lovely!
jen! there is a way around that too though!
i went to an optometrist here in town, tried on glasses, stealthily took camera pictures of the number and brand of glasses i liked, and searched those online. between zenni optical, smart buy glasses, and clearly contacts, they're bound to have a pair you've liked in town here. and then you might have to get them adjusted, but you've still saved so much money!
ooh, i'd never heard of that site before, but it has some really cute ones!! {i like yours a lot too}
i wish i could trade jobs with you for a day. just so i could say my dreams came true...
thanks sarah! :)
Love your glasses! They really suit you! I always wante them too & I got my wish about 10years ago!! X
Do you have a hard time seeing far away? Or things close up? I have just started having trouble seeing far away and a few weeks ago my mom ordered some big glasses and she looks great, and it got me thinking how I really want big glasses, and then I saw this and now I am jealous!

erika! get some! clearlycontacts is so cheap, and they have some sweet ones on there. {oh, to answer your question, my eyes just have a hard time focussing the same, so i have a different prescription for each eye}
get glasses. they're fantastic.
