{gramma}

one time, at Christmas, gramma accidentally sat down right in the salad.
i remembered that, just now, and had to tell you. i remember thinking, "ohhh. so i take after gramma." not that i've ever sat down right in the salad, but just that i've done a lot of things a lot like sitting down right in the salad.

gramma slipped into a coma a few days ago and the nurses said she'd probably not wake up again. we left as soon as we heard, to give gramma a hug and a kiss and sing her a song and say goodbye. i'm sure she heard us, even though she didn't say anything, because she reached out and grabbed my hand during the chorus of "amazing grace".

her funeral is tomorrow. i'm trying to get moving, because i have so much to do before we leave town tonight, for the second trip this week down highway 1. but i got thinking about seat salad and amazing grace.

she was really fantastic. i just hope that as i grow up i take after her in a lot of other ways.

i miss this lady.

Sorry about your grams. I regretted not being able to say goodbye one last time to my great-grandma before she passed, but I see her all the time in my dreams and I wake up feeling happy. I know she is where she wants to be and is at peace.

Love and prayers to you and the family during this time, Suzy. She really was a beautiful woman. Jamie Nelson put a wonderful imagery in my head one day, after Grandma Carol passed away and with struggling with that, she said, "Can't you just picture my grandma, your grandma, and Jesus all sitting down for a cup of coffee?" That encouraged me and that image has stuck with me. I bet they are enjoying their coffee time with Jesus, as Arlene would delight in as well.

Suzy, I just read this post. The fact that you were praying for my dad while you were going through this shows me what type of heart you have.
I bet you're already more like your grandma than you think.

So so sorry friend. But hopefully it is also a reason for rejoicing. And it isn't it wonderful that she was there to see you get married? Just lovely.

I'm so sorry, Suzy :(
I miss my grandma terribly... so much in fact, that I got her signature tattooed on my arm. And now I've worked in geriatrics for four years... :)
I love people that love their grandparents.
